Wabash Ready To Debut Little Giant Stadium Saturday

Little Giants open the home portion of the 2021 season versus Allegheny

Wabash is ready to welcome football fans to the new $13 million Little Giant Stadium for the 2021 football home opener against Allegheny College. Kickoff Saturday is set for 2 p.m. The ticket office opens at 12 p.m. and the gates open at 12:30 p.m.

Wabash enters Saturday's game with a 2-0 overall record and a 1-0 North Coast Athletic Conference mark after a 42-14 victory at Hiram. The Little Giants rushed for 301 yards and two touchdowns versus the Terriers and threw for four touchdowns. Donovan Snyder rushed for a career-best 138 yards and two touchdowns. Five different Little Giants ran the ball last Saturday. Ethan Haessig, Cade Campbell, and Noah Bierma each topped 40 yards on the ground in the game.
 
Liam Thompson threw for 224 yards and four TDs in the victory. Jackson Clayborne led Wabash with four receptions for 53 yards. Derek Allen, Cooper Sullivan, Zane Thomas, and Heisman Skeens caught one touchdown pass apiece.
 
The Little Giants held Hiram to 38 rushing yards and 197 yards of total offense. Josh Myers paced the defensive effort with nine tackles. Seth Buresh, David Marsh, and Kenny Coleman each recorded sacks for Wabash.
 
Wabash and Allegheny have played 20 times since the Little Giants began playing a football schedule in the NCAC in 2000. Wabash owns a 16-4 overall record including a 7-3 home record versus the Gators. The Little Giants have won the past seven meetings between the two schools. Wabash claimed the last meeting in Crawfordsville in 2018 with a 54-17 victory. The Little Giants won 48-35 when the two teams played at Allegheny in 2019.
 
Saturday's game is also part of the College's annual Homecoming festivities. Homecoming began on November 12, 1920, with a football game against Western Normal (now Western Michigan). Wabash is 66-26-8 all-time in Homecoming contests, including a 4-0 record versus Allegheny in Homecoming games.
 
Wabash will honor the 20 members of the senior class on the Wabash football prior to Saturday's kickoff.
 
Allegheny opened the season with 42-14 home victory over Thiel College before traveling to Denison for its conference opener, losing 41-0 to the host Big Red.
 
Jack Johnson, the Gators' quarterback, threw for 135 yards with one interception in the game against Denison. Johnson has thrown for 363 yards and four touchdowns and has completed 60 percent of his passes with only one interception. Shane Cafardi is the top receiver for Allegheny with 10 catches for 130 yards and one touchdown. He caught a pair of passes for 27 yards versus Denison. Declan O'Brien made a team-high four receptions for 59 yards last weekend and has four catches for 59 yards through two games. John Ian Duron is the leading rusher for the Gators with 19 carries for 108 yards and one TD.
