Wabash claimed three individual titles and 13 top-eight finishes to place second out of nine teams competing at the 2023 Adrian College Wrestling Invitational on Saturday. James Day (125 pounds), Daniel Uribe (149 pounds), and Ray Arebalo captured individual titles for the Little Giants in their opening event of the 2023-2024 season.
 
Uribe led a parade of Wabash wrestlers to the podium in the 149-pound weight class. Dominic Litchfield placed second in the weight class, with Blake McGee earning third place. Andrew Ross scored a fourth-place finish for the Little Giants. Uribe finished 3-0 with three technical falls in the tournament to claim the individual victory. Litchfield went 2-1 overall. McGee earned three wins in four matches. Ross posted a 2-2 record to take fourth place.
 
Day won all three matches with two pins and a technical fall at 125 pounds to capture the individual title. Andrew Punzalan finished 2-2 for the meet to place fourth in the weight class.
 
Arebalo finished 4-0 for the day at 174 pounds with three pins to win the weight class title for the Little Giants.
 
Tyson Nisley scored a second-place finish in the 157-pound weight class with two victories in three matches. Ayden Lutes won four bouts in six trips to the mat to finish in fifth place at 157 pounds. Jesse Herrera placed third in the 165-pound bracket with a 3-1 record for the tournament. Ethan Cooper went 3-3 at 165 pounds to earn sixth place overall.
 
Sammy Saunders earned three victories in four matches at 184 pounds to take third place in the bracket. Neil Johnson picked up four wins in five bouts to place third at 197 pounds. Tim Stohl went 2-2 at 285-pounds for Wabash to score a fourth-place finish.
 
Laban Green picked up a victory at 133 pounds to finish sixth overall in the bracket. Alejandro Velasco was credited with eighth place at 133 pounds.
 
Wabash scored 168 points in the varsity competition to finish second overall. Adrian won the team title with 171 points. Heidelberg finished in third place with 131.5 points. Case Western Reserve (128.5), Alfred State (88.5), Ohio Wesleyan (66.5), St. Vincent (46.5), Siena (21), and Toledo (12.5) completed the team scoring. The Little Giants finished in fourth place in the freshman/sophomore bouts in the tournament with a total of 89.5 points.
 
Wabash opens the home portion of the 2023-24 schedule on Thursday with a dual meet scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Chadwick Court.
