The Wabash College golf team fired an opening round of 304 to tie for seventh place after 18 holes at the 37-team Illinois Wesleyan University Invitational.
 
The Little Giants played at Weibring Golf Course on Friday, finishing in a tie with the Illinois Wesleyan second team. The host Titans' primary team leads the tournament after the first day with a score of 287.
 
Brayden Weiss led the Little Giants with a first-day score of 74 for a share of 18^th place in the individual standings. Lewis Dellinger shot a 76 for his best tournament 18-hole round to tie for 53^rd place heading into Saturday's final round. Sean Bledsoe and Tim Neu tied for 74^th place with scores of 77. Mark Poole turned in a score of 80 to tie for 123^rd place out of the 212-man field.
 
Wabash will play at Ironwood Golf Club in Saturday's final round of the tournament.
