Wabash College sophomore
James Day captured a third-place finish at 125 pounds in the 2024 NCAA Division III Wrestling National Championship Tournament finals to earn All-America honors for the first time in his career.

Day went 2-1 on Saturday after opening with two wins in Friday's first day of competition. The sophomore faced top-seeded Joziah Fry from Johnson and Wales in Saturday's championship semifinal round. Fry, the eventual national champion, sent Day to the consolation bracket, where the sophomore rallied for a pair of victories.

Day's first win came against third-seeded Zac Blasioli from Millikin. Day scored an escape in the second period of their 125-pound bout, then added a point for over one minute of riding time to earn a 2-1 victory. Day took on Jacob Decatur from Baldwin Wallace for the second time in the tournament, defeating him 5-1 in Friday's quarterfinal match. Day scored the only point of the match with an escape in the second period for the 1-0 victory to capture the third-place finish.

Wabash scored a total of 16.5 points as a team at the 2024 championships to finish in a tie for 20
th place out of 66 teams competing at the event.
