Crawfordsville, Ind. — The Wabash College wrestling team celebrated its senior class in dominant fashion Friday night, rolling to a 49–0 victory over Trine University in a dual meet at Chadwick Court. The sweep highlighted Senior Night for standout wrestlers James Day, Andrew Ross, and Rylan Hendricks, each honored before the first bout.
The Little Giants (1–1) controlled every match from start to finish, recording five pins, two technical falls, and three major decisions in a complete team performance. Trine (0-2) never managed a lead or a victory in any weight class.
Wabash opened the dual with immediate momentum at 125 pounds, where Andrew Punzalan pinned Dakota Johnson in just 1:10 to ignite the crowd. Senior James Day, the program's nationally-ranked 133-pounder, followed with a 17–2 technical fall over Ben Edwards at 5:15, extending the early lead to 11–0. Day, a three-time national qualifier, two-time All-American, and one of the evening's honorees, methodically piled up points with takedowns and tilts to close out the bout before the third period.
Wabash kept its foot on the gas at 141 pounds when Mason Weyant secured a fall with six seconds left in the match, pinning Thomas Miller at 6:54. Branson Weaver added another first-period pin at 149, decking CJ Briner in 2:59 to push the Little Giants' advantage to 23–0.
Senior Andrew Ross delivered one of the night's signature moments at 157 pounds. Wrestling in front of family and teammates on his Senior Night, Ross controlled the match from the opening whistle and finished off Eli Penquite with a fall at 4:17.
At 165, Cooper McCloy produced a steady 6–0 decision over Lakin Webb by dictating pace and riding time for much of the bout. Jaylen Young followed with a 13–2 major decision at 174 over Nayl Sbay, using repeated takedowns and long rides to add to the growing margin.
The Little Giants' upper weights closed the dual with another burst of bonus-point dominance. Michael Taheny raced to an 18–3 technical fall at the three-minute mark of his 184-pound match against Gavin Malone, while Spencer Watson earned a 16–3 major decision at 197 by controlling neutral positions throughout. In the heavyweight finale, Maximus Forrester capped the shutout with an 8–0 major decision over Davin George.
Wabash will compete on Saturday at the annual Indiana Little State Tournament hosted by Manchester University. Competition begins at 10 am.
