Westminster Box Score
The Wabash tennis team scored a pair of victories at home Saturday with an 8-1 non-conference win against Ohio Wesleyan and a 9-0 sweep of Westminster (MO) College.
The Little Giants picked up all three victories in doubles play against OWU.
Peter Gunderman and
Wade Miller combined for an 8-6 win in the first flight, while
Daniel Delgado and
Nate Koelper earned an 8-3 win in the second.
Evan Bayless and
Ian Leonard were forced to a tiebreaker at number three doubles before scoring a 9-8 victory.
Delgado won in straight sets (6-1, 6-1) at number two singles. Gunderman was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at number three singles. Leonard had to go to three sets before winning 6-2, 4-6, 10-6 at number four singles, while Koelper picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win in the fifth singles flight.
Phil Kubisz shut out his sixth singles opponent 6-0, 6-0.
Bayless and Leonard improved to 4-1 in dual matches with an 8-4 win at third doubles against Westminster. Gunderman and Miller won 8-1 in the the first doubles flight, while Delgado and Koelper won 8-6 at second doubles. The top-five singles matches won in straight sets with victories by Miller (6-3, 6-4), Delgado (6-4, 6-4), Gunderman (6-4, 6-2), Leonard (6-3, 6-1), Koelper (6-4, 6-1). Kubisz needed a third set to pick up a 6-4, 2-6, 10-7 win in the sixth singles flight.
