The Wabash tennis team enjoyed its first outdoor home meet of the season by shutting out two opponents Saturday. The Little Giants posted identical 9-0 victories over Hanover College in the morning session and Cornerstone College in the nightcap.
Senior
Peter Gunderman led the charge, barely losing a game in singles play. He posted a 6-0, 6-4 victory at number three singles versus Hanover, then won 6-0, 6-0 in the Cornerstone match.
Wade Miller was equally dominate, scoring a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the number-one singles morning match before scoring a 6-1, 6-0 win against Cornerstone.
Nate Koelper cruised to a pair of wins at number-five singles with a score of 6-1, 6-1 against Hanover before blanking Cornerstone 6-0, 6-0.
Daniel Delgado won 6-4, 6-2 at number two singles against Hanover, then picked up a 6-1, 6-4 victory in the same flight against Cornerstone.
Ian Leonard won 6-1, 6-3 at foruth singles against Hanover and 6-0, 6-2 against Cornerstone.
Phil Kubisz picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory at number-six singles against Hanover.
Michael Doebler recorded his first varsity victory with a 6-4, 7-5 win at number six singles versus Cornerstone.
Leonard and
Evan Bayless improved to 11-4 at number three doubles for the season with a pari of wins (8-0, 8-1). Miller and Gunderman combined for two wins at number one doubles (8-6, 8-2), while Delgado and Koelper won 8-0 at number two doubles against Hanover. Koelper joined Doebler at number two doubles to post an 8-3 victory versus Cornerstone.
Wabash improves to 9-6 with the victories. The Little Giants travel to Rose-Hulman on Wednesday.
