Wabash lost a key North Coast Athletic Conference West Division tennis match 5-4 at Wittenberg Saturday afternoon, but rallied for a 9-0 win against Central State University (OH) in the day's final contest. Senior
Evan Bayless recorded the golden match in a singles' win.
The Little Giants opened with a pair of doubles victories at Wittenberg in the morning session.
Wade Miller and
Peter Gunderman scored an 8-4 win in the first flight, while
Daniel Delgado and
Nate Koelper won by the same score at number two doubles. Miller picked up a straight sets (6-3, 7-5) win at number one singles, while
Phil Kubisz won his sixth singles match in three sets, 2-6, 6-0, 6-0. The Tigers took the remain four singles matches to earn the one-point team victory.
Bayless won every point in his sixth-singles competition against Central State in the afternoon to record the perfect 6-0, 6-0 victory. Miller won 6-0, 6-1 at number one singles. Gunderman picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win in the second flight, while
Ian Leonard recorded a 6-0, 6-2 victory at number three singles. Koelper, the NCAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week, won 6-0, 6-1 at number four singles. Kubisz scored a 6-0, 6-0 win at number five singles.
All three doubles' teams scored 8-0 victories. Miller and Gunderman combined at number one doubles. Bayless and Leonard played in the second flight, while Kubisz and
Sky King paired for the victory in the third flight.
