The Little Giant tennis team traveled to Chicago Saturday for a pair of matches. Wabash swept Lake Forest 9-0 in the Saturday morning opener before falling 6-3 to Elmhurst in the afternoon.
Daniel Delgado and
Mark Troiano scored an 8-3 win at number one doubles against Lake Forest in the morning session.
Wade Miller and
Nate Koelper combined for an 8-2 win in the second doubles flight.
Ian Leonard and
Phil Kubisz dominated in an 8-1 victory at number three doubles.
Miller needed three sets to pick up a victory at number singles by a final score of 7-5, 2-6, 12-10. Delgado took a 6-3, 7-5 victory at number two singles. Koelper was a straight-sets victor in the third singles flight (6-2, 6-1), as was Troiano in the fourth flight (6-3, 6-1). Leonard added a 6-4, 6-2 straight-sets win at fifth singles, while Kubisz won every game in his 6-0, 6-0 sixth singles match.
Leonard and Kubisz won 9-7 over Elmhurst's Vincent McPherson and Quinn Jennings in the afternoon contest. Delgado picked up a 6-1, 6-3 victory at number two singles. Troiano battled to a three-set win fourth singles by scores of 6-2, 5-7, 10-8.
Wabash (2-2) will travel to Oberlin, Ohio next weekend for a doubleheader against Oberlin College and the College of Wooster.
