Wabash Tennis Ends Regular Season with Ohio Split

Nate Koelper won his singles match versus Ohio Wesleyan and joined Mark Troiano to win at number two doubles in a 5-1 Wabash victory Saturday morning.

The Little Giant tennis team played two central Ohio road matches Saturday. Wabash picked up a 5-1 win at Ohio Wesleyan in the morning session before driving to Denison to suffer a 9-0 North Coast Athletic Conference West Division loss in the afternoon.

Wabash took two of the three doubles matches versus the Battling Bishops. Wade Miller and Daniel Delgado combined for an 8-4 victory in the first flight. Nate Koelper and Mark Troiano won 8-4 at number two doubles.

Delgado added a straight-sets 6-1, 6-0 victory at number two singles. Troiano scored a 6-4, 6-3 win in the third single flight. Koelper sealed the team win with a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the fourth singles flight.

Troiano and Koelper forced extra games against Denison at number two doubles before falling 9-8 at number two doubles in the Little Giants' best opportunity to take a point from the Big Red.

Wabash finishes the regular season with an overall record of 15-11. The Little Giants went 0-3 in NCAC West Division matches. Wabash will compete at the NCAC Tournament at Oberlin beginning next Friday afternoon.
