Wabash rallied from a 3-0 deficit versus Haverford Monday in its second tennis match of the team's trip to Puerto Rico. The Little Giants came up just shy of picking the win, losing 5-4.
The overall match featured a quartet of three-set thrillers. Wabash captured victories in three of the four singles matches after losing all three doubles contests.
Michael Makio split the first two sets before taking the third set at number two singles for a 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 victory.
Mark Troiano lost his first set at number three singles but won the second in a tiebreaker, then dominated the third set for a 4-6, 7-6 (6), 10-3 score. Mazin Hakim won the first set of the sixth singles flight but needed a third set to score a team point in a 7-5, 3-6, 10-4 win.
Graham McMullen won in straight sets at number five singles (6-3, 7-5).
Wabash (5-10) will play Division I Saint Joseph's University (PA) Tuesday morning.
