Wabash earned an impressive 6-3 victory over Ohio Wesleyan Saturday morning in its first North Coast Athletic Conference West Division men's tennis match of the 2014 season. The Little Giants cruised to a 6-0 win against Hanover in the night cap to complete the weekend sweep.
Wabash captured all three doubles matches versus the Battling Bishops (5-9, 0-2 NCAC West), starting with an 8-0 win by
Nate Koelper and Mazin Hakim in the second flight. Graham McMullen and
Mark Troiano produced an 8-5 win at number one doubles, while Michael Makio and Harrison Schafer took a 9-7 victory at three doubles.
Koelper won every game in a 6-0, 6-0 contest at number three singles. McMuller scored a 6-3, 6-0 victory at fourth singles, while Hakim secured the final team point with a 6-5, 6-2 win at fifth singles.
Koelper kept his streak alive by joining Hakim to win 8-0 against Hanover (0-5) at number three doubles. Troiano and McMullen also took an 8-0 victory in the second doubles flight.
Wade Miller and Makio combined for an 8-3 victory at number one doubles.
Hakim started singles play against Hanover with an unbeaten effort in the sixth flight, winning 6-0, 6-0. Miller added a 6-4, 6-0 win at number one singles. Troiano picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory to close out the match.
Wabash (8-10) is off until April 5 when the Little Giants resume NCAC divisional play with a match at Wittenberg University.
