Wade Miller played the final home matches of their careers Friday afternoon in the Wabash tennis team's 8-1 loss to Denison.
Miller picked up a thrilling three-set victory in his final match at the Collett Tennis Center at number one singles for the Little Giants. He lost 6-0 in the first set to Juan Guerra before storming back in the final two sets to win 6-4, 10-6. Miller and North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week Michael Makio fell 8-4 at number one doubles.
Miller ranks fourth in career singles victories at Wabash with 58 heading into next weekend's NCAC Tennis Tournament. He is also fourth in doubles wins with 65.
Koelper combined with Mazin Hakim at number three doubles, falling 8-5 in their flight. Koelper lost 6-3, 6-4 at number four singles.Koelper is tied for ninth in career singles victories (48) and is tied for tenth with 50 career doubles wins.
The loss in NCAC West Division play gives the Little Giants an 11-15 overall record and a 1-3 record in divisional contests. Denison is 12-5 overall and 3-0 in the NCAC West.
Wabash will participate in the NCAC Tournament, which will take place next weekend at Denison with play beginning Friday morning.
