The Wabash tennis team had no difficulty with regionally-ranked Earlham Wednesday night, dispatching the Quakers 7-2.
Earlham opened the 2014-2015 season ranked 10th in the Central Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
The Little Giants captured two doubles matches to open the competition. Mark Trioano and
Michael Makio scored an 8-2 win at number one doubles.
Graham McMullen and
Mazin Hakim picked up an 8-0 shutout win in the third flight.
Wabash won five of six singles matches. Makio won in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 at number two singles. Troiano picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win in the third singles flight. McMullen scored another shutout, this in singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 final in the fourth flight.
Kirill Ivashchenko also blanked his opponent at fifth singles 6-0, 6-0.
Nicholas Pollock earned the final win with the score 6-0, 4-0 in the the second set before his opponent withdrew due to an injury.
The Little Giants improve to 6-2 with the win, capturing their third straight victory. Wabash travels to Michigan Saturday to play at Kalamazoo before a match versus Luther.
