Wabash captured a pair of home tennis matches Saturday, starting with an 8-1 win versus Monmouth College. The Little Giants followed with a 7-2 victory over Rose-Hulman.
The Little Giants opened Saturday morning's contest against Monmouth with a sweep of doubles play.
Daniel Delgado and
William Reifeis snatched an 8-4 win in the first flight, while
Mark Troiano and
Michael Makio combined for an 8-4 win in the second flight.
Graham McMullen and
Mazin Hakim scored an 8-1 win at number three doubles.
Dalgado took two sets to score a 6-1, 7-6 (7) win at number one singles. Makio just missed a shutout in a 6-1, 6-1 win in the second singles flight. Troiano picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win at three singles. Reifeis earned a win at fourth singles (6-4, 6-2), while
Nicholas Pollock picked up the final team point with a 6-4, 6-3 win at number five doubles.
Wabash jumped out to a 2-1 lead over Rose-Hulman with wins at number one and two doubles. Delgado and Reifeis combined for an 8-2 win in the first flight, while Troiano and Makio won 8-3 in the second. Delgado rallied for a three-set win in singles (2-6, 6-1, 6-3) as did Troiano at third singles (3-6, 6-4, 6-2). Makio earned a 7-6 (3), 6-3 win in the second flight. Reifeis cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win at fourth singles, bhile Pollck won in three sets (3-6, 6-4, 10-6).
The Little Giants improve to 9-3 for the season with the wins and will play a series of matches in Orlando, Florida March 7-14 as part of the team's annual Spring Break trip.
