Wabash Tennis Sweeps Hope For Record-Setting Twentieth Win

The Wabash tennis team recorded its 20th victory of the season Saturday with a 9-0 sweep of Hope College in the North Coast Athletic Conference – Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Challenge.
 
This year's Little Giants are the first tennis team in Wabash history to record 20 victories.
 
Wabash senior Daniel Delgado added another mark to the records book after combining with freshman William Reifeis for an 8-6 win at number one doubles. The victory provided Delgado his 73rd career win, tying the record set by Ian Leonard two season prior.
 
Michael Makio and Mark Troiano picked up an 8-2 win in the second doubles flight. Graham McMullen and Mazin Hakim scored an 8-5 win in the third doubles flight.
 
Delgado won in straight sets at number one singles 6-3, 6-2. Makio took the second flight of singles play with a 6-2, 6-2 win. Troiano won 6-4, 6-4 at number three singles, while Reifeis improved to 14-2 at number four singles and 15-2 for the year with a 6-0, 6-4 victory Saturday. McMullen notched a 6-4, 7-5 victory in the fifth singles flight, while Nicholas Pollock claimed a three-set 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 victory in sixth singles.
 
Wabash (20-4) faces arch-rival DePauw Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Collett Tennis Center. The Little Giants enter the match ranked 11th in the Central Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The Tigers are ranked seventh in the region and 33rd in the nation.
