Tennis Earns 17th Win with 8-1 Win over Wittenberg

The Wabash tennis team picked up an 8-1 win over Wittenberg Saturday to post its 17th victory of the season.
 
The win places the Little Giants one win away from tying its season-best total of 18, set in 2011.
 
Wabash (17-4, 1-0 NCAC) captured all three doubles matches, starting with an 8-5 win by Daniel Delgado and William Reifeis in the first flight. The duo improved to 18-1 for the year, while Delgado posted his 70th doubles win of his career to move three away from tying for the all-time Wabash record. Mark Troiano and Michael Makio scored an 8-0 win at number two doubles. Graham McMullen and Mazin Hakim picked up a forfeit in their third doubles match.
 
Delagado scored a 6-4, 6-4 straight sets victory at number one doubles. Troiano added a decisive 6-2, 6-1 win at number three singles. Reifeis picked up a win at number four singles, rallying after winning the first set for his 16th win for the year (6-2, 4-6, 10-7). Graham McMullen won 6-0, 6-1 at fifth singles. Nicholas Pollack earned the final victory of the day with a forfeit in the sixth singles flight.
 
The Little Giants will compete in the annual North Coast Athletic Conference – Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tennis Tournament to be held April 10-11. Hope College will serve as the host institution for the two-day event.
