Wabash scored a pair of tennis victories Saturday afternoon on the team's trip to Illinois, starting with a 6-1 win at Lake Forest. The Little Giants followed with a 7-1 win over the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
The Little Giants captured two of the three doubles matches in the opener versus Lake Forest.
Michael Makio and
William Reifeis scored an 8-2 win in the first flight.
Jordan Greenwell and
George Go III captured an 8-4 victory in third doubles. Makio trailed his number one singles match before forcing three sets to earn a 6-7 (6), 7-6 (3), 10-8 win. Reifeis scored a straight sets win at number two singles (6-4, 6-2), as did Greenwell at third singles (6-3, 6-1).
Kirill Ivashchenko locked up the win with a 6-4, 6-3 win in the fourth singles flight.
Wabash came right back in the second match with wins at number one and three doubles against UW-Oshkosh. Makio and Reifeis won 8-5 in the first flight. Greenwell and Go posted an 8-3 win in the third flight. Makio scored a 6-3, 6-1 win at number one singles. Reifeis finished 2-0 for the day in singles action with a 6-2, 6-2 win in the second flight. Greenwell won third singles 6-0, 6-2. Nicholas Pollack picked up a 6-0, 7-6 (1) in the fifth singles flight.
Mazin Hakim went to three sets at number six singles to take a 2-6, 6-2, 10-5 victory.
The Little Giants improved to 4-2 for the season with the win. Wabash returns home to face Earlham College Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Collett Tennis Center.
