Wabash claimed victories in two of its tennis matches of a weekend trip to Michigan Saturday. The Little Giants opened the day with a hard-fought 5-4 win over Carthage College, followed by a 7-2 victory at Hope College.

The lower portion of the Wabash (5-3) lineup provided the scoring punch Saturday versus Carthage. After losing the number one doubles match,
Michael Makio and
Jordan Greenwell provided the first team point with an 8-4 victory in the second doubles flight. The third doubles team of
George Go III and
Andrew Denning picked up an 8-3 win.

Carthage (3-4) picked up wins in the first three singles matches to take a 4-2 lead.
Jordan Greenwell started the Wabash rally with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at number four singles.
Nicholas Pollock tied the score at 4-4 with his 6-2, 6-1 win in the fifth singles flight. Denning provided the deciding point with his 6-2, 6-2 victory at number six singles.

Wabash had an easier time in its second match versus Hope (1-4). The Little Giants won this first two doubles matches, starting with an 8-2 win by
William Reifeis and
Patrick McAuley at number one doubles. Makio and Greenwell earned an 8-2 win in the second doubles flight.

Reifeis opened singles play with a 6-2, 6-3 victory in the first flight. Makio added a 6-1, 6-1 win at number two singles. McAuley scored a 6-3, 7-6 win in third singles flight, followed by a 6-2, 7-5 victory at number four singles by Greenwell. Pollock earned the final win of the day with his three-set victory (6-3, 3-6, 6-3) win in the fifth flight.

Wabash travels to Kalamazoo College for a Sunday morning contest before returning to Crawfordsville.
