Wabash faced nationally-ranked Coe College Saturday morning at the Collett Tennis Center, finishing on the short end of a 7-2 contest versus the visiting Kohawks.
The Coe squad entered the day ranked 36th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll with a 17-4 record. The Little Giants (8-11) got off to a bit of a sluggish start, eventually losing all three doubles matches.
Patrick McAuley scored a 7-5, 6-2 win for Wabash at number four singles against Josh Pudio.
Jordan Greenwell had very little trouble on the court at number three singles, scoring a straight-sets 6-1, 6-4 win against James McManus.
William Reifeis battles Coe's Brady Anderson, ranked 32nd in the nation in the preseason and currently ranked seventh in Central Regional individual player poll. Reifeis won the first set 6-4 but lost the final two sets by scores of 6-2 and 6-3.
Wabash takes on arch rival DePauw University at home Wednesday at 5 p.m.
