Whaley Named NCAC Men's Field Athlete Of The Week

Wabash College freshman Preston Whaley received North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors for his performance at Saturday's University of Indianapolis Season Opener meet.

Whaley broke the school record in the triple jump by posting a top mark of 14.15 meters (46 feet, 5.25 inches) to win the event at the Indianapolis meet. His jump eclipsed the former Wabash record of 13.99 meters (45 feet, 11 inches) set by Mo Jagne in 2000.

Whaley's jump finished .75 meters ahead of the second-place finisher from the University of Evansville. The Wabash freshman ranks fourth among all Division III student-athletes in triple jump after the first weekend of competition.
