Box Score 2 The Wabash tennis team split two matches in Wisconsin Saturday. The Little Giants lost 6-3 to Wisconsin-Whitewater in the morning session prior to a 9-0 sweep of the Illinois Institute of Technology.
William Reifeis and
Patrick McAuley improved to 15-0 at number one doubles with a pair of wins Saturday. The duo defeated Zane Navratil and Jimmy Engelhart from UW-Whitewater 8-4 before dispatching Franklin Zhong and Brody Croonquist from IIT 8-1.
Reifeis rallied for a three-set victory against Navratil at number one singles 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4. McAuley added the final point against UW-W (9-4) with a three-set win 2-6, 6-0, 7-6 (5).
The Little Giants (8-7) opened the match against IIT (8-6) with wins at number two and three doubles in addition to the victory at number one doubles.
Jordan Greenwell and
Kirill Ivashchenko scored an 8-6 win in the second flight.
George Go III and
Nicholas Pollock won 8-3 in the third doubles flight.
Reifeis started the string of six consecutive singles wins with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the first flight. McAuley added a three-set win by scores of 2-6, 6-3, 10-6 at number two singles. Greenwell won 6-3, 6-2 at number three singles.
Ivashchenko picked up a win at number four singles 5-7, 7-5, 10-7. Pollock used three set to win in the fifth singles flight 7-5, 3-6, 11-9. Go closed out the match with a straight-sets win at number six singles 7-4, 6-2.
Wabash travels to Washington University-St. Louis next Saturday.
