Wabash captured five individual titles and 23 top-eight finishes at Saturday's non-scoring Indiana Little State Wrestling Tournament hosted by Marian University.

Maxwell Bishop each captured individual titles for the Little Giants at the tournament.

Champagne claimed the 125-pound weight class title with three victories on the day. He picked up a pin at 4:46 against Devon Johnsen followed by a forfeit from teammate
Kory Cavanaugh in the semifinal round. Champagne defeated Marian's Christopher Sharp 12-5 in the finals to claim the title.

Cavanaugh scored a fourth-place finish at 125 pounds after earning two early victories. He pinned Armando Callejas from the University of Indianapolis at 1:57 into their opening round bout. Cavanaugh defeated Joshua Stephenson by an 11-2 major decision on his way to fourth place.

Christian Merrill added a fifth-place finish at 125 pounds after opening the day with a technical fall by a score of 16-0. Merrill scored a pin at 3:42 in his match against Schmidt in the consolation bracket, followed by a 12-8 decision over Josh Smith-Goheen from Indiana Tech. Merrill knocked off Devon Johnson from Indiana Tech with a 12-3 major decision in the final to claim fifth place.

Bethel won the 157-pound weight class by starting with a pin 34 seconds into his first match of tournament against Rhett Newton from Indiana Tech. Bethel add another fall in even quicker fashion, pinning Garrett Griffin from the University of Indianapolis in 29 seconds in the quarterfinals. Bethel received a medical forfeit in the semis before defeating Nathan Conley 8-5 in the finals for the first-place finish overall.

Kyle Holman placed fifth in the 157-pound weight class after scoring three consecutive wins over fellow Wabash wrestler
Filippo DeFrenza (6-4), Griffin (4-2), and Wade Monebrake from the University of Indianapolis (3-1).

Hatch rolled through the 165-pound weight class with four falls to claim the championship. He pinned James Munroe at 2:29 in the first round of the tournament, followed by an 18-3 technical fall victory against Isaiah Newberry from Lindsey Wilson. Hatch knocked off Ismael Cornejo from Marian University with a 16-0 technical fall in the semifinals before scoring a pin at 2:32 in the finals against Sam York from Indiana Tech.

Three Little Giants placed in the 174-pound weight class led by Schurg's individual championship. The senior started the day with pins against Alex Gronkiewicz from Manchester (1:02) and Drake Kendrex from West Liberty (0:32). Schurg defeated Matt Hebel from Lindsey Wilson by a 17-6 major decision in the semifinals. Schurg scored a 7-2 victory over Derek Blubaugh from the University of Indianapolis in the finals to capture the title.

Thomas Sell scored a fifth-place finish at 174 pounds. He earned back-to-back pins over Dylan Mosher from Thomas More (1:42) and Cameron Hooley from Manchester (1:38) in the first two rounds. Sell knocked off teammate
Anthony Cicciarelli 11-6 in the consolation bracket then received an injury default and a forfeit to claim fifth place overall.

Carlos Lopez added a seventh-place finish for Wabash in the 174-pound weight class. Lopez scored a pair of wins over teammates
Teo Palubinskas and
Kaleb Mooney in the consolation bracket along with an injury default and a medical forfeit to capture seventh place. Â

Bishop picked up wins over Victor Lee from Manchester (6-1) and Chris Cook from West Liberty (3-2) before pinning unattached wrestler Ledarryl Lee at the five-minute mark of their semifinal bout. Bishop defeated Nick Fowler from Calumet 3-2 in the finals to win the heavyweight title.

Wade Ripple placed third overall at heavyweight. He picked up pins against Nico Torres from Manchester (1:30) in the championship part of the bracket and against Jack Williams from the University of Indianapolis (1:39) in the consolation bracket. Ripple defeated Chase Logan from West Liberty 1-0 before facing Lee in the semifinals to score pin at 2:06 to advance to the finals. Ripple pinned teammate
Isaiah McWilliams at 3:56 to capture third place.

McWiliams pinned Michael Landin from Cleary University at 2:58 in the opening round of the tournament followed by another pin at 32 seconds in the next round against Joseph Chacon from Indiana Tech. McWilliams added a 3-1 victory over Logan in the next round before dropping to the consolation portion of the bracket. McWilliams picked up a forfeit from Cook in the semifinals to face Ripple in the finals for a fourth-place finish.

Ethan Herrin finished in third place at 184 pounds. He pinned PJ Sterrett from the University of Indianapolis at the 1:25 mark of his first match of the day. Herring scored pins against Garrett Cook from West Liberty (1:29) and Luke Smith from Indiana Tech (0:33) in the consolation semifinals and took a medical forfeit from Eric Vermillion from Indiana Tech in the finals.

Daylan Schurg placed sixth at 184 pounds. He picked up a technical fall by a score of 20-4 against Alston Bane from Marian University then defeated Damien Rodriguez from Indiana Tech 7-5 in a sudden victory win. Schurg went to overtime once again in the next round to defeat Kohl Dodd from Lindsey Wilson 6-5 in a tiebreaker to eventually place sixth overall.

Trizton Carson added an eighth-place finish at 184 pounds. He pinned Cook at the 1:58 mark of their opening match, then added a pin against Bane at 3:09 in the consolation bracket later in the day.

Owen Doster finished fourth in the 141-pound weight class. The senior pinned Justin Kempf from Indiana Tech 4:37 into their opening round match. Doster earned a 14-2 major decision against Cameron Baird in the quarterfinals. A loss in the semis to Marian's Brandon James sent Doster to the consolation bracket where he scored a 4-2 win against Chase Wilkerson from the University of Indianapolis.
Brailen Harrington opened the day with a 7-5 win over Elijah Phillips from Manchester and added a 4-1 victory versus Nick Varanelli from the University of Indianapolis to place eighth in the 141-pound weight class. Â

Alex Barr added a fourth-place finish in the 149-pound weight class. He pinned Luis Puig from Lindsey Wilson in the first round then added an 11-2 major decision over Cody Roland from Thomas More. Barr scored a 4-2 win the consolation semifinals after a loss in the championship semis on his way to the fourth-place finish in the weight class.

Jack Heldt placed fifth at 197 pounds for Wabash. He defeated Avery Buckman from Linsey Wilson 6-5 followed by a pin at 3:57 of his match against Austin Lane from Marian. Heldt added a win over Griffin Stine with a no-contest result for the fifth-place finish.
Sam Hansen picked up a 5-4 win over Logan Julian and pin of David-William Parrett from Manchester (0:56) in the first two bouts of his 197-pound tournament draw. Hansen defeated teammate
Grant Johnson 7-4 in the consolation portion of the bracket and scored a pin 26 seconds into the championship-round match against
Matt Melcher from Wabash to claim seventh place. Melcher defeated teammates
Trevor Snipes and
James Lewis before losing to Hansen in the finals for the eight-place finish at 197 pounds.

Rodney Hendricks earned a 10-8 win in the second round of the consolation bracket for a seventh-place finish at 133 pounds.
Wabash is scheduled to compete at the Johnson and Wales Quad Tournament at Jersey City, New Jersey on December 21.
