- Wabash travels to Ohio for the final time in the 2022 regular season to play the Oberlin College Yeomen in a North Coast Athletic Conference matchup.
- Wabash enters the weekend as one of four teams with only one loss in NCAC play, joined by Wittenberg (4-1), Ohio Wesleyan (3-1), and DePauw (3-1).
- Wabash owns a 22-2-1 lead in the all-time series versus Oberlin. The Little Giants are 20-1 versus Yeomen in NCAC games and are 11-1 in games played at Oberlin. Wabash won the last eight meetings between the two teams dating back to a 31-16 victory by Oberlin at Wabash in 2012. The Yeomen won the first meeting between the two teams (32-7 in 1945) before a 7-7 tie in 1947. Wabash won the next 14 games before the game in 2012.
- Wabash jumped to a 14-0 first-quarter lead in the 2021 meeting with Oberlin and never looked back, winning 49-20. The Little Giants outscored Oberlin 21-6 in the second quarter on the way to the victory. Liam Thompson completed 16-of-20 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns. Thompson, Donovan Snyder, Cade Campbell, and Blake White each ran for scores as the Little Giants outgained Oberlin 204 yards to 92 yards on the ground.
- Wabash enters the weekend ranked second in the nation in passing offense, averaging 360.0 yards per game. Hampden-Sydney leads all of Division III with an average of 366.0 passing yards per game. The Little Giants rank sixth in total offense at 528.0 yards per game and are 32nd in the nation and second in the conference behind Wittenberg in scoring offense by averaging 39.5 points a contest.
- Liam Thompson leads Division III in total offense with an average of 401.7 yards per game. He accounted for 389 yards of offense in the win over Ohio Wesleyan, adding 14 rushing yards on seven carries to his 434 passing yards. Thompson also ranks second in passing yards per game with an average of 353.8, trailing Hampden-Sydney quarterback Tanner Bernard in first place with an average of 358.8 passing yards per game.
- Wabash recorded a season-high three interceptions last week versus Ohio Wesleyan and converted the turnovers into 13 total points. The Little Giants scored 20 points off nine turnovers this season, while opposing teams scored 14 points off six total turnovers.
- Junior tight end Penn Stoller moved to second in the conference in receiving yards after posting a season-high 140-yard effort last week versus Ohio Wesleyan. His 531 receiving yards this season trails Zachary Kim from Kenyon, who leads the NCAC with 621 receiving yards. Derek Allen Jr. ranks fifth in the conference with 517 receiving yards, while Cooper Sullivan is 12th with 353 yards.
- Freshman linebacker Gavin Ruppert tied for the team lead in tackles against Ohio Wesleyan, matching Jose Franco with eight tackles. Ruppert made one solo stop, along with seven assists. He also recorded a tackle for a loss and broke up two passes. Ruppert ranks second in the conference and 21st among Division III players, averaging 10.6 tackles per game. Matt Ulishney from Wooster leads the NCAC with an average of 12.5 stops a contest.
- Scouting The Yeomen
Oberlin is searching for its first victory of the season after suffering a seven-point loss at home to Kenyon and losses at Kalamazoo (21-14) and at home to Alvernia (38-35) to open the season. The Yeomen average 15.7 points and 285.2 yards of offense per game.
Senior quarterback Chris Allen, Jr. averages 170.7 passing yards per game. He has completed 100-of-168 passes for 1,024 yards and nine touchdowns with six interceptions. He threw for a season-high 286 yards in the loss to Kenyon and tossed three touchdown passes against Alvernia and Kenyon. Senior Brian Colarusso leads the Yeomen receiving corps and ranks third in the conference, averaging 7.2 receptions per game. He has 43 catches for 450 yards and four touchdowns through six games. Sophomore Pierce Muthui-Edwards is second on the team with 26 receptions for 245 yards. Three of sophomore Ty Weatherspoon's 17 catches have gone for touchdowns, and he averages 17.9 yards per reception.
Allen, Jr. is also Oberlin's leading rusher with 80 attempts for 139 yards. He has run for the only two touchdowns of the season for the Yeomen. Sophomore Greg Lane has played in four games and averages 17.5 yards on the ground. Luca Friedman has missed the past four games after running for 56 yards on seven carries through the year's first two games.
Freshman linebacker Hunter Green leads the Yeomen with 62 tackles, including six tackles for losses of 27 yards. Sophomore defensive end Gavi Genger has six tackles for losses of 26 yards and a team-high two sacks for 18 yards. Sophomore safety David Harris has the lone interception for the Yeomen, picking off a pass in the game against Kenyon.
