Wabash Adds Three To Football Coaching Staff

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — Wabash College head football coach Jake Gilbert announced the addition of three assistant coaches to the Little Giants' staff, welcoming Ken Karcher, Jeremy Fendley, and Glen Rowell ahead of the upcoming season.

Karcher joins the Wabash program as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, bringing more than 30 years of experience across the collegiate, professional, and high school levels. His background includes head coaching, offensive coordinator, and quarterbacks coaching roles, along with championship experience as both a player and a coach. Most recently, Karcher served as assistant head coach, offensive coordinator, and quarterbacks coach at Albertville High School in Alabama. He previously spent nearly a decade as head coach at East Central Community College in Mississippi, leading the program through one of the most successful stretches in its history. His résumé also includes head coaching duties at Liberty University, offensive coordinator roles at Eastern Michigan University and the University of Pittsburgh, and professional experience in NFL Europe and other leagues .

"Ken Karcher is a man of tremendous character and experience," Gilbert said. "He has been a part of football at all levels and has experienced championships as a player and as a coach. We are thrilled to have Coach Karcher leading our offense to the next level while coaching the QBs."

Fendley joins the Little Giants' staff as an assistant coach working with the outside linebackers. He brings more than two decades of leadership shaped by extensive experience in high school football, education, and military service. Fendley most recently served as head football coach at Clinton Central High School and previously coached at Westfield High School, where he worked closely with Gilbert for five seasons. His background also includes service with the United States Military Academy at West Point in an off-the-field football role. A retired U.S. Army senior non-commissioned officer, Fendley also served in the U.S. Marine Corps and earned numerous military honors for valor and leadership.

"Jeremy Fendley and I coached for five years together at Westfield High School," Gilbert said. "He has also coached for the legendary Bud Wright and served as a head football coach at Clinton Central. Jeremy is a war hero who has served his country in the Marines and the Army. Part of his time in the Army included working with the West Point football team in an off-the-field role. Jeremy will coach the OLBs at Wabash."

Rowell rounds out the staff additions as an assistant coach working with the defensive tackles. He arrives at Wabash with a diverse coaching background that includes collegiate, high school, and recruiting experience. Rowell spent nearly four years at Kentucky Wesleyan College coaching the defensive line and serving as the program's recruiting coordinator. His résumé also features head coaching and coordinator roles at the high school level, along with professional playing experience in arena football. In addition, Rowell has coached multiple sports and served in athletic administration roles, further broadening his experience in player development and program operations .

"We are excited to welcome Glen Rowell to the Wabash staff as our defensive tackles coach," Gilbert said. "Glen coached defensive line for four years at Kentucky Wesleyan and has been a head high school football coach. Coach Rowell brings great technique and energy to our D-line."

All three coaches begin their duties immediately.
