The Wabash College swimming and diving team competed against seven teams from NCAA Divisions I and III and the NAIA  from across the state at Saturday's Indiana Intercollegiate Invitational held at Purdue University. The Little Giants finished in a tie with Bethel University for sixth place.
 
Caleb McCarty placed 11th overall and finished second among Division III swimmers in the 100-yard freestyle. The senior completed the race in 49.37. Ethan Johns placed 12th overall with a time of 49.53. Johns added a 12th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, earning the top finish by a Division III swimmer with a time of 1:46.40. McCarty scored a 20th-place finish in the 50-meter free, completing the race in 21.99 for the top finish by a DIII competitor.
 
Barret Smith turned in the second-best finish among Division III competitors in the 100-yard backstroke. Smith finished 26th overall with a time of 57.15. Jacob Penrose placed 15th overall and third among DIII swimmers in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in 5:11.89. Eli Arnold finished in 16th place by touching the wall in 5:17.44. Connor Craig placed 24th overall and second on the DIII list of swimmers in the 100-yard individual medley, finishing at 56.40.
 
Eddie DaMata scored a 25th-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke. His time of 1:02.69 was the fourth-best by a DIII swimmer. William Morris placed 11th on the one-meter diving board and was the top Division III diver in the event, scoring 235.00 points. He finished second in the DIII standings and 13th overall on the three-meter diving board, scoring 210.5 points.
 
The Wabash foursome of Craig, John Allen, Johns, and McCarty combined for a time of 1:29.39 to finish in eighth place in the 200-yard freestyle relay, the second-best effort by a Division III relay team. Marc Nicholson, DaMata, Jack Pendleton, and Craig finished 13th overall and fourth in the DIII listings in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:42.22.
 
Wabash scored a total of 81 points at the meet. Purdue won the team competition with 717 points, followed by IUPUI in second place with 497 points. Ball State took third place (415 points), followed by Rose-Hulman in fourth place with 100 points. Franklin finished in fifth place with a score of 83 points.
