INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Wabash College sophomore Ryan West earned All-America honors Saturday with an eighth-place finish in the A final of the 200-yard backstroke at the 2026 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships.
West secured his spot in the A final with a record-breaking performance in Saturday morning's preliminaries. He touched the wall in 1:46.06 seconds to eclipse his own school record of 1:46.42, set earlier this year at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships. That previous mark had seeded West 11th entering the NCAA Championships.
West closed out his sophomore season with a time of 1:46.97 in Saturday evening's final, placing eighth and earning 11 team points for the Little Giants.
West's finish marked the first top-eight performance in an A final at the NCAA Championships by a Wabash swimmer since 2016, when Zechariah Banks recorded two fifth-place finishes in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke.
