Ethan Stonis and two from
Joseph Plencner highlighted Saturday afternoon's Wabash lacrosse battle against Allegheny. The Little Giants held the visiting Gators to five goals in the final three periods of the North Coast Athletic Conference contest but could not overcome an early Gator lead in a 10-8 loss.

Wabash (3-6, 0-2 NCAC) answered an early pair of goals from Allegheny (2-7, 1-1 NCAC) when Plencner took a pass from
Artie Rogers to score his 19
th goal of the season.
Luka DiFilippo scored an unassisted goal to answer a three-goal run by Allegheny to cut the lead to 5-2. Stonis picked up his first goal of the game in the closing minute of the first period to trim the Little Giants' deficit to 5-3.

Caulin Fitzgerald made it a one-goal game early in the second period with his 11
th goal of the year on a man-up opportunity for the Little Giants. Stonis picked up a second goal to tie the score at 5-5 ahead of another Plencner goal to put Wabash in front 6-5. The Gators tied the score at 6-6 with five minutes remaining in the half before scoring another goal with 13 seconds left in the period to take a 7-6 lead at halftime.

Both teams' defenses stiffened in the second half. Wabash picked up goals from
Evan Schiefelbein in the third period and another from Stonis in the fourth while holding Allegheny to a goal in the third and two more in the fourth.

Schiefelbein became the first Wabash player to surpass the 250-ground ball mark for his career by scooping up six ground balls in the game. He has recorded a total of 252 ground balls in 41 career appearances. DiFilippo led the team with nine ground balls. He also won 16 of 22 faceoff opportunities for the Little Giants. Schiefelbein, Plencner, Stonis, and Rogers all picked up assists for Wabash.

Matthew Hendrick made nine saves for Wabash as the starting goalkeeper. Wabash held Allegheny scoreless on both the Gators' man-up chances in the game.
