The Wabash College tennis team opened its 2022-2023 on the first day of competition at the non-scoring Transylvania Fall Tournament.
The Little Giants scored four individual victories in action against Wittenberg University. Freshmen
Augusto Ghidini scored a straight-set win against Jake Strockhausen by scores of 6-3, 6-4. Freshman Ethan Koenema scored a three-set victory against Mark Trinka 6-0, 2-6, (8). Another first-year player,
Adam Altobella, defeated Hayden Durant 7-6 (4), 6-4. Sophomore
Jett Brownlee added a 6-3, 6-1 win over Eli Reed.
Junior Liam Greenon scored an early victory over Chakib Mackur from Asbury University 6-2, 6-4. Ghidini added another win by rallying for a 5-7, Â 7-6, 1-0 (3) versus Asbury's Franco Patino.
Christan Zimmerman earned a 7-6 (3), 6-3 win against Yuri Tirado from Asbury. Koeneman scored his second victory of the day with a decisive 6-0, 6-1 win versus AJ Hughes from Asbury. Altobella won 6-0, 6-3 against Asbury's Asa Callow. Brownlee closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Aiden Jones from Asbury.
Tharakesh Ashokar and Alvero Alonso-Sanchez combined for an 8-2 win in doubles action when the Little Giants faced Transylvania University. Koeneman and
Cole Shifferly swept their double match by a score of 8-0. Zimmerman and Brownlee added an 8-3 victory in the doubles match against Transylvania.Â
