  • Wabash is playing its 135th season of football with an all-time record of 703-395-59. Wabash ranks fifth among Division III schools in all-time victories and 12th in winning percentage with a mark of .633. The Little Giants joined Notre Dame as only the second Indiana school to win 700 games in football program history.
     
  • The Little Giants are in their 22nd season as members of the North Coast Athletic Conference. Wabash has won or shared nine NCAC titles in the past 17 seasons (2002, 2005, 2006 [tied], 2007, 2008, 2011, 2015, 2018 [tied], and 2019 [tied]).
     
  • Wabash and Hampden-Sydney meet for the third time in The Gentlemen's Classic. The two all-male schools first played football against one another in 2014. Wabash claimed a 34-21 victory at the old Hollett Little Giant Stadium. The Little Giants took a 2-0 lead in the all-time series with a 35-3 victory in the game played at Hampden-Sydney in 2015.
     
  • Wabash and Hampden-Sydney have played against one another in basketball, baseball, and tennis in addition to football. The teams first met on the hardwood in in Virginia with Hampden-Sydney defeating the Little Giants. The two teams split a two-baseball series in 2014 and 2015. The Tigers claimed a victory in the last matchup on the tennis courts in 2000 with a 9-0 win to even the overall series at 3-3.
     
  • Wabash earned four first-place votes and 70 points to rank second in the annual North Coast Athletic Conference preseason football coaches poll. The Little Giants finished two points behind defending conference champion DePauw University. The Tigers received three first-place votes and 72 total points.
     
  • Five All-NCAC players return to the 2022 roster for the Little Giants, including NCAC Offensive Player of the Year Liam Thompson. The junior quarterback has the opportunity to become the first two-time Offensive Player of the Year recipient since Wittenberg quarterback Ben Zoeller earned the award in 2010 and 2011. Wabash quarterback Matt Hudson '10  was a two-time NCAC Offensive Player of the Year Award winner in 2008 and 2009. Jake Knott '03 was the Little Giants' first two-time OPOY recipient, capturing the honor in 2002 and 2003. Running back Casey Donaldson from Wittenberg is the only player in conference history to win the Offensive Player of the Year Award three times.

    Joining Thompson on the All-NCAC Team last season were First Team selections Donovan Snyder (RB), Cooper Sullivan (WR), and Joe Mullin (C). Will Netting was an Honorable Mention All-NCAC selection last season. Thompson, Sullivan, and Mullin were all named to the 2021 D3football.com All-Region 4 Team.
     
  • Wabash set a single-season school record last year by producing an average of 484.9 yards of total offense per game. The Little Giants led the NCAC and ranked 14th among all NCAA Division IIII teams in total offense per game. Wabash ranked fifth in the nation in fewest tackles for losses allowed with an average of 3 TFL per game.
     
  • Liam Thompson ranked fifth in the nation in total offense  last year with an average of 336.9 yards per game. He ranked 15th in passing yards per game (295.6) and 25th in passing touchdowns with 25 for the season. Thompson's 28 passing touchdowns in 2021 moved him to seventh on the Wabash all-time TD passing list. He trails Dave Broeker '82 in sixth place with 45 career passing touchdowns.
     
  • Donovan Snyder earned First Team All-NCAC honors at running back after leading the conference in rushing with 1,023 yards. He ranked 31st in the nation overall. Snyder ran for a single-game best 220 yards against Wooster last season and topped the 100-yard mark in five games.

Scouting Hampden-Sydney - Hampden-Sydney opens the 2022 season at Wabash Saturday with 11 starters returning from its 5-5 campaign in 2021. The Tigers earned a third-place selection in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference coaches' preseason poll, thanks in part to the return of First Team All-ODAC quarterback Tanner Bernard. The fifth-year player threw for 2,546 yards and 15 TDs in 10 starts last season. He led the conference with 181 completions and an average of 254.6 passing yards per game.Junior wide receiver Braeden Bowling caught 41 passes for 828 yards and six touchdowns to earn Second Team All-ODAC honors. Senior Talen Smith hauled in five passes for 25 yards in seven games last season. Junior Brice Wilson finished last season with one reception for a three-yard touchdown over ten games.

 
Junior running back Josh Jones is the top returning rusher for the Tigers. He ran for 200 yards and three touchdowns on 54 attempts. Junior Melik Frost only played in six games in 2021 but ran for 101 yards and 30 carries.
 
Junior Will Pickren finished as the second-leading tackler for Hampden-Sydney last season. The safety recorded 106 tackles and picked off two passes. Junior James-Ryan Salvi finished the 2021 season with 66 tackles and two interceptions from his safety position. Joseph Pierre, a sophomore safety, made 26 tackles with 2-1/2 sacks and 5-1/2 tackles for losses totaling 25 yards. Junior Tobias Lafayette grabbed a team-high five interceptions to go with 43 tackles last season.
