Thompson Earns Third NCAC Offensive Player Of The Year Award

13 Little Giants Named To 2023 All-NCAC Football Team

Liam Thompson became the second player in North Coast Athletic Conference history to receive the Mike Gregory Award as Offensive Player of the Year as the league announced its 2023 all-conference football selections and year-end award winners. The senior quarterback joined 12 other Wabash College football players on the 2023 all-conference team.
 
Thompson, Derek Allen Jr., Penn Stoller, Joe Mullin, and Quinn Sholar were named to the All-NCAC First Team. Cameron Ford, Jake Pasch, Gavin Ruppert, Steven Thomas, and Brody Rucker received Second Team All-NCAC honors. Cooper Sullivan, Kanon Kelley, and Brock Robertson were named to the All-NCAC Third Team.
 
Thompson earned the Offensive Player of the Year and all-conference first team honors for the third consecutive, joining Wittenberg's Casey Donaldson as the only players in conference history to be named Offensive Player of the Year three straight seasons. Donaldson received the honor in 1998, 1999, and 2000. Thompson received all-conference honors for the fourth time in his career. He was named to the all-conference second team in 2019 before earning first team all-conference honors in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
 
Thompson completes his Wabash career as the conference record-holder for career passing yards, passing touchdowns, and total offense after breaking all three records this season. He owns 20 single-game, single-season, or career school and conference records and is the current active leader among all Division III players in total offense yards per game with an average of 314.6. He is second in career total offense and career passing yards. Thompson led the NCAC in rushing yards per carry this season by averaging 6.77 yards per attempt. He was second in passing in the conference with 2,428 yards after completing 186-of-268 passes. Thompson led the conference and ranked 13th in the nation in total offense, accounting for an average of 315.2 yards per game and 3,155 for the season. He is one of 16 finalists for the Campbell Trophy presented by the National Football Foundation and the College Football Hall of Fame and is a Gagliardi Award nominee.
 
Allen, Jr. earned First Team All-NCAC honors for the second consecutive season. The senior wide receiver caught a team-best 62 passes for 810 yards and 12 touchdowns. Allen, Jr. ranked second among conference wide receivers in touchdown catches and third in receiving yards, yards per game (80.7) and yards per catch (6.2). He hauled in a school-record 90-yard touchdown pass in a victory over Wooster and finished his career ranked third in school history with 5.37 receiving yards per game and sixth in career touchdown catches with 25. His 2,498 receiving yards rank seventh in Wabash history, while his 161 career receptions are the eighth-most by a Wabash player.
 
Stoller received First Team All-NCAC for the second straight season after catching 34 passes for 460 yards and six touchdowns. A 2021 D3football.com Second Team All-America selection and preseason First Team All-America pick, Stoller led the conference in touchdown receptions by a tight end and ranked eighth in touchdown catches. He finished third in receiving yards on the Wabash team this season and second in touchdown catches.
 
Mullin earned First Team All-NCAC honors for the second time in his career after a first-team selection in 2021 and a second-team award in 2022. Sholar received first-team honors again after a second-team selection in 2022. Both offensive linemen, along with first-time all-conference honorees Ford and Kelley, helped the Wabash offense lead the NCAC in rushing offense with an average of 235.9 yards a game, 16th-best among Division III programs. Wabash led the conference and ranked 13th in the nation in total offense with an average of 493.2 yards per game, and finished second in the conference and 25th in Division III with an average of 41 points per game. The Little Giants were third in the conference in sacks allowed, surrendering an average of 1.5 per contest.
 
Pasch earned all-conference honors for the first time in his career. The sophomore defensive back recorded 42 tackles to finish fourth among Wabash players and 26th among conference defenders this season. He opened the season with a career-best 11 tackles against Hampden-Sydney and made his first career interception in a win at Ohio Wesleyan. Pasch also forced and recovered a fumble against Hampden-Sydney, setting up the game-winning score for the Little Giants.
 
Ruppert received second team all-conference honors after earning a third-team selection last season. He led Wabash in tackles with 73 and finished ninth among conference defensive players. The sophomore linebacker made a team-best 40 solo stops and picked up 2-1/2 tackles for losses totaling seven yards. Ruppert made a season-best 13 tackles against Wooster and finished with double-digit tackles versus Hampden-Sydney and Denison.
 
Thomas picked up second team all-conference recognition for the second straight season. He made 30 tackles as a defensive lineman and led Wabash with 5-1/2 tackles for losses of 26 yards and 4-1/2 sacks for 25 yards. Thomas recorded a season-best six tackles at Denison and made a season-high four solo tackles versus Wooster. He tallied tackles for losses in five of the Little Giants' ten games this season.
 
Rucker earned all-conference honors for the first time in his career. The sophomore kicker led the conference and tied for 17th among Division III players in field goals per game by averaging one a contest. He made 10-of-14 attempts, including a season-best 41-yard kick, and finished 51-of-53 in extra-point kicks to lead Wabash and finish fourth in the conference in scoring with 81 total points. He made a season-high three field goals against DePauw in the 129th Monon Bell Classic and kicked a season-best 8-of-8 extra points in a win against Oberlin.
 
Sullivan leaves his mark on the Wabash football program as the all-time leader in receiving yards with 2,916. He earned his fourth all-conference designation as a third team selection this season after earning second team honors in 2022 and 2019 and first team honors in 2021. The senior wideout caught 39 passes for 657 yards and three touchdowns and ranked seventh among conference receivers with an average of 73 receiving yards per game. He caught 191 career passes to rank fourth in Wabash history and finished eighth in school history for touchdown receptions with 20. He caught seven passes for a career-high 178 yards and one score at Hiram in the game he broke the Wabash career receiving yardage record. Sullivan caught five or more passes in four games this season and eclipsed 100 receiving yards twice in 2023.
 
Robertson earns all-conference honors for the first time in his career. The sophomore defensive back finished with 64 total tackles, the second-most by a Wabash player and 16th-most in the conference this season. He made 36 solo stops and 1-1/2 tackles for losses of two yards. Robertson recorded a career-best 16 tackles in the 129th Monon Bell Classic against DePauw, including a career-best nine solos. He recovered a fumble in the Little Giants' win over Wittenberg and earned conference player of the week honors by making eight total tackles in that contest.
