WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Wabash College swimming and diving team opened its 2025–26 season with an eighth-place finish Saturday afternoon at the Dan Ross Indiana Intercollegiates hosted by Purdue University at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.
 
The Little Giants scored 60 points in the team standings, placing ahead of Indiana Wesleyan (58) and Rose-Hulman (54). Purdue captured the men's team title with 518 points, followed by IUPUI with 500 and Ball State with 396.5.
 
Wabash posted several strong swims in the first meet of the season, highlighted by a top relay performance in the 200-yard medley relay. The quartet of freshmen 
Alijah Hall, 
Lew Sams, 
Owen Thomas, and 
Nate Marshall combined for a time of 1:41.42 to place 16th overall.
 
In individual events, 
Mason Gilliam led Wabash in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 1:48.67, while 
Ryan West added a 1:49.00 finish in the same event. Hall (58.74) and 
Nicholas Sommers (58.51) turned in solid efforts in the 100-yard backstroke. 
Nicholas Plumb placed 50th in the 100-yard butterfly (56.56), while 
Morgan Govekar finished the 100 backstroke in 1:02.66.
 
The invitational featured top NCAA Division I, II, and III programs from across Indiana, including Purdue, Ball State, IUPUI, the University of Indianapolis, Valparaiso, Evansville, and several others.
 
Wabash will return to action Oct. 18 when the Little Giants host the 2025 Indiana DIII Meet at the Class of 1950 Natatorium in Crawfordsville. Diving event take place in the morning before the first swimming events start at 1 p.m.
