Kalamazoo, Michigan –
Mason Gilliam scored an individual victory and Wabash produced seven top-five finishes to open the first day of competition at the 2025 Kalamazoo College Quad Meet. The efforts put the Little Giants in second place out of three teams competing on Friday.
Gilliam swam to first place with a season-best time of 4:48.91 to win the 500 freestyle. Teammate
William Renie captured fifth place by finishing in a season-best time of 5:06.32.
Wabash took fourth and fifth place in the 200-yard freestyle.
John Allen, Renie,
Nate Marshall, and
Quinn Sweeney combined for a time of 1:30.57 to place fourth in the race.
Owen Thomas,
Grayson Goff,
Lucas Ferreira, and
Jace Caldwell added a fifth-place finish with a combined time of 1:33.06.
Ryan West picked up a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley by posting a time of 1:59.90. West joined
Lew Sams,
Brody Page, and Sweeney to earn a third-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay.
Nicholas Plumb,
Dane Market,
Owen Thomas, and Marshall took fifth place in Friday's final relay by finishing in 3:47.68.
Wabash finished the first night with a total of 304 points, trailing only John Carroll with 397 points. Kalamazoo is in third place with 117 points heading into Saturday's final day of competition starting at 11 a.m.
