Crawfordsville, Ind. — The Wabash College swimming and diving team continued its strong weekend at the 2025 Gail Moll Pebworth Invitational on Saturday night, adding multiple top-three finishes in the pool and two scoring performances on the diving boards to remain firmly in third place after the second day of competition at the Crawfordsville High School Aquatics Center. The Little Giants closed the night with 647 points, trailing DePauw (894) and Ohio Northern (752) with one day remaining.
Ryan West delivered one of the night's biggest wins for the Little Giants, dominating the 400-yard individual medley. West pulled away early and never relinquished control, winning in 4:03.69 and capturing 23 more points.
Zach Baty joined him in the A final, placing fourth in 4:19.50, while
Alijah Hall placed sixth in 4:20.10 to give Wabash three top-six finishers. Freshman
Andres Tejada added a 17th-place effort (4:44.77) in the B final for additional scoring.
Quinn Sweeney added another event title to Wabash's tally, winning the 100-yard butterfly in 50.58.
Owen Thomas finished eighth in the A final in 53.04, and
Nicholas Plumb secured 11th overall by winning the B final in 52.99. Sophomore
Mason Gilliam highlighted the A-final group in the 200-yard freestyle with a fourth-place finish in 1:44.68, while
William Renie added 13th in 1:47.36 and senior
John Allen placed 15th in 1:48.27.
Lucas Ferreira contributed a 17th-place time of 1:49.62.
West returned to the pool to win his second event of the evening, capturing the 100-yard backstroke in 50.44. Plumb placed sixth overall in 53.33, adding another strong final-heat performance.
Alijah Hall and Ferreira earned additional points by finishing 17th (55.28) and 20th (56.25), respectively.
Wabash opened the finals session with a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The A team of
Ryan West,
Lew Sams, Sweeney, and
Nate Marshall touched in 1:33.37 to secure 38 points. The B relay of
Nicholas Plumb,
Abbas Hakim,
Owen Thomas, and
Grayson Goff added a seventh-place finish in 1:37.78, while the C relay of
Zach Baty,
Michael Cruzado, Hall, and
John Allen placed 16th in 1:41.54.
The 100-yard breaststroke produced another scoring wave for the Little Giants. Sams earned a third-place finish in 58.28, while
Dane Market and Hakim added 16th- and 19th-place finishes in the B final.
The Little Giants also picked up valuable diving points Saturday afternoon at the Class of 1950 Natatorium.
Fox Seebach placed third on the 1-meter board with a score of 289.55, and
Liam Fuller added a fifth-place finish at 241.85 as Wabash outscored four teams in the diving standings.
Wabash closed the night in third place with 647 points, maintaining its position ahead of Franklin (453), Manchester (251), and Anderson (163). DePauw and Ohio Northern continue to lead the men's field heading into Sunday's final session.
The three-day invitational concludes Sunday.
