Wabash College senior thrower
Evan Furuness has been named the North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week following his performance at Friday's Larry Cole Opener hosted by the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Â
Furuness recorded two personal-best marks in the meet, highlighted by a victory in the shot put. He secured first place with a throw of 16.00 meters on his final attempt of the night, establishing a new career best. The mark currently ranks 22nd in NCAA Division III this season and leads the NCAC performance list by nearly a full meter.
Â
The senior also produced a career-best effort in the weight throw, finishing fourth with a toss of 15.71 meters. That mark ranks fourth among NCAC competitors this season.
Â
Furuness' results contributed to Wabash placing second out of seven teams at the meet.
