Ellspermann Named D3hoops.com Region 7 Rookie of the Year

Wabash College freshman guard Luke Ellspermann added another postseason honor to his debut season, earning 2026 D3hoops.com Men's Basketball Region 7 Rookie of the Year recognition following a standout first year with the Little Giants.

The Evansville, Indiana, native previously earned North Coast Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year honors and First Team All-NCAC recognition after emerging as one of the league's top performers throughout the 2025-26 season.

Ellspermann ranked among the most productive freshmen in the region while leading Wabash in scoring. He averaged 15.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game while starting 24 contests during his first collegiate campaign. His 398 total points ranked second in the NCAC during the regular season.

The freshman guard elevated his production during conference play, averaging 17.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game across 15 NCAC matchups. Ellspermann scored in double figures in every conference game and recorded three performances of 25 or more points.

During league competition, Ellspermann ranked among the NCAC leaders in several statistical categories, including made free throws (66), assists (41), and field goals (85). He also finished among the top 15 in defensive rebounds (68), total rebounds (80), and steals (18).

Ellspermann produced one double-double during the season, scoring 11 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in Wabash's Jan. 14 victory over Ohio Wesleyan.

Players were nominated for the D3hoops.com all-region teams by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools.
