DeBello Breaks School Record, Advances To NCAA 400-Meter Final; Sholar Earns Second All-America Honor

LA CROSSE, Wis. — Wabash College senior Quinn Sholar earned his second All-America honor of the championship with a 15th-place finish in the shot put Friday at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Freshman Brock DeBello secured All-America honors by qualifying for Saturday's final in the 400-meter dash at Veterans Memorial Stadium on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Sholar produced a throw of 16.36 meters (53 feet, 8.25 inches) to move into 10th place on his initial effort in the shot put Friday. He turned in a mark of 16.05 meters (52 feet, 8 inches) on his second attempt, then fouled on his final throw to finish 15th overall after all 22 competitors had completed their attempts. Sholar earned Second Team All-America honors with the finish.

Sholar also picked up Second Team All-America honors Thursday with a 15th-place finish in the discus throw.

DeBello, who earned All-America honors at the indoor championships with a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter dash in March, broke his own school record Friday. The freshman crossed the finish line in 46.85 seconds to better his previous record of 46.95, which earned him a spot in the national championship field.

DeBello finished second in his preliminary heat behind Wittenberg's Jack Kittle, who won the heat to qualify automatically for Saturday's final. DeBello posted the third-fastest time overall among the field of 22 competitors to earn one of the nine spots in the championship race.

The top eight finishers Saturday will earn First Team All-America honors, while the ninth-place finisher will be named to the All-America Second Team. The men's 400-meter final is scheduled for 3:20 p.m. Eastern time.

Wabash senior Sly Williams will also compete Saturday in the triple jump, beginning at noon.
