David Phillips and freshman
Aaron Troyer eached scored two individual victories, but their wins would not be enough to help the Wabash swimming and diving team to a victory Friday evening. Kalamazoo College defeated the Little Giants 194-106 in the dual meet hosted by Saint Mary's in South Bend, Indiana.
Phillips won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:12.00. Freshman teammate
Andy Chorpenning took second place (10:20.08), while
Adam Barnes was fourth (10:40.11). Phillips added a victory in the 500 free with a time of 4:53.71 to score nine points for Wabash, while Chorpenning placed fourth overall (5:05.93).
Aaron Troyer added an individual victory in the 100-yard backstroke, posting a winning time of 54.81.
Charles Williams touched the wall in second place in the event with a time of 57.17. Troyer also won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:01.79. Barnes was third in the event with a time of 2:08.71.

The Little Giants opened with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The quartet of Troyer,
Steve Batchelder,
Carter Adams, and
Alex Beck finished in 1:39.57. Adams grabbed second-place finishes in the 100 butterfly (54.44) and the 400 individual medley (4:23.41). Phillips was third in the 400 IM (4:27.60), while Barnes finished fifth (4:36.18). Adams was also third in the 200 butterfly (2:02.28), while
Logan Falley grabbed fifth place (2:08.74).
Paul Beuscher added a second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.75).
Matt Schramm touched the wall in fifth place (1:04.60). Beuscher was also third in the 200 breaststroke (2:24.00) with teammate Mike Nemeth finishing fifth (2:29.86).
Steve Batchelder finished third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.53.
Alex Hawkins finished fourth (1:50.83).
Beck grabbed third place in the 50 free (22.69) and the 100 free (49.73). Batchelder was fourth in the 50 free (23.36).
Diver
Jake Schild finished third on the one-meter board with a score of 194.62 after finishing fourth in three-meter competition (160.27).
Jacob Anderson finished fifth in both the one-meter (159.98) and three-meter (155.99) events.
The Little Giants closed out the night with a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay as the foursome of Troyer, Batchelder, Beck, and Hawkins finished in 1:29.89.
Wabash will return to action with a home dual meet on Saturday, November 5 against Rose-Hulman at 1 p.m. in the Class of 1950 Natatorium.
