Box Score The Little Giants connected on only six of 22 shots in the first half of Saturday afternoon's North Coast Athletic Conference game at Kenyon College. The Lords outscored Wabash 38-22 in the first period on the way to a 72-55 victory.
Wabash took an early 4-1 lead on baskets by
Andy Walsh and
Daniel Purvlicis. Walsh, starting for the first time in his career, led the Little Giants with a career-high 20 points. He hit 6-of-15 shot attempts, including five of his 10 three-point tries. Walsh kept Wabash in front 7-5 with the first of his five triples two minutes into the opening period. The Lords responded with an 18-5 scoring run over the next 12 minutes to take an 11-point lead.
Kenyon (9-8, 3-5 NCAC) stretched the advantage to as many as 23 points in the first four minutes of the final period. Wabash drew no closer than 14 points before ending the contest on the wrong end of the 17-point deficit.
Walsh scored eight of the Little Giants' 22 first-half points. Purvlicis equaled his season-best effort of 18 points after scoring seven in the first period.
Pete Nicksic came off the bench to added eight points. Walsh, Purvlicis, and Nicksic each grabbed five rebounds to pace Wabash in that category.
Julian Pavlin led Kenyon with 17 points. John Bray was 6-of-8 from the field for a 16-point afternoon. Brian Lebowitz tallied 10 rebounds for the Lords.
Wabash (4-12, 2-5 NCAC) will be back in action Sunday afternoon with an NCAC game at Oberlin College (4-12, 2-5 NCAC). The Yeomen lost 61-43 to DePauw on Saturday afternoon.
