Box Score Wabash connected on 19 shot attempts with only four three-point baskets in Saturday's 71-54 home loss to Denison. The defeat snapped a three-game winning streak for the Little Giants, including back-to-back wins in North Coast Athletic Conference contests.
The Little Giants hit 19-of-52 attempts from the field for 40 percent overall. Wabash scored 25 points in the opening period before finishing with 29 in the final half.

Despite the difficulties shooting, the Little Giants kept within sight of Denison (6-7, 2-4 NCAC), trailing by only seven points with 10 minutes left in the contest. After falling behind by 15 points early in the final period, Wabash used its inside game to cut the lead in half.
Daniel Purvlicis scored eight of his team-best 18 points over the span of seven minutes to make the score 51-44 with 10:17 left to play. The Big Red responded with a 7-0 run over the next three minutes to double the score on the Little Giants. Wabash would get no closer than 12 points the rest of the way to fall to 3-9 overall and 2-4 versus NCAC opponents.
Ross Sponsler provided the outside scoring punch for Wabash, hitting 6-of-14 shots overall and all four of the Little Giants' three-point baskets. Sponsler and Purvlicis combined for 13 of the 19 made baskets for Wabash in the contest.
Purvlicis tied his career-high with his 18-point effort.
The game was back and forth early before a 12-2 run by Denison put the visitors up 19-10. Baskets by Purvlicis and
Austin Burton brought Wabash to within five. The Big Red eventually opened up a 14-point halftime lead.
Alex Longi scored 19 points to pace the Denison offense. Brad Woolard added 11 points, and Robby Weingart came off the bench to score 10 points.
Wabash travels to Ohio Wesleyan University Wednesday night. Tipoff in Delaware, Ohio is set for 8 p.m.
