Travel Woes Preceed Dual at UIndy

Elliot Johns won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:46.00 for Wabash in the Little Giants' dual meet at the University of Indianapolis Saturday.
Travel delays prevented the Wabash swimming team from leaving Florida until Friday evening. Less than 24 hours after leaving the Sunshine State the Little Giants competed at the University of Indianapolis, losing 181-50 to the Greyhounds.

Wabash was scheduled to return to Indiana Monday, but storms throughout the Midwest postponed the team's flight from Fort Lauderdale until Friday evening.

"Obviously our guys were pretty tired from trip, which was reflected in some of our swims," Head Coach Brent Noble said. "Regardless, we did post a few good results."

One of those came in the 200-yard freestyle with Elliot Johns posting an individual win with a time of 1:46.00. Aaron Troyer finished third overall in the event, touching the wall in 1:50.07. Wyatt Tarter took fifth place (1:52.27). Johns added a second-place effort in the 100 free, finishing in 48.93. Zechariah Banks took third place with a time of 49.89. Dylan Miller added a fifth place finish (50.32).

Banks scored a second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke, posting a time of 1:00.33. Josh Bleisch finished fifth with a time of 1:00.62. Banks added a third-place effort in the 200-yard individual medley (2:00.03), with Carter Adams finishing fifth in the event (2:04.39). Adams also scored a fourth-place finish in the 100 butterfly (54.29).

Arturo Granados took second place in the 500 freestyle, finishing in 4:52.21. Joel Paquin finished fifth with a time of 5:01.49.

Jake Childress finished fourth in the 100 backstroke (55.55), while Josh McCabe touched in 58.36 for fifth place. Chris McGue finished fourth in the 50 free (22.63). Miller posted a time of 22.79 for fifth place. Jack Belford finished the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:09.96.

Wabash posted two third-place finishes in the relays. Childress, Bleisch, Adams, and McGue finished the 400 medley relay in 3:52.54. Troyer, Johns, Miller, and McGue turned in a time of 3:17.45 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The Little Giants will be action Friday night at home versus Franklin College. The dual meet will begin at 6 p.m.
