Results
Wabash won nine of the thirteen events held between the Little Giants and the Illinois Wesleyan Titans. The dominant effort provided Wabash a 138-64 road win Friday evening.
The Little Giants jumped out to an early lead with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay.
Jake Childress,
Zechariah Banks,
Carter Adams, and
Elliot Johns combined for a winning time of 1:38.62. Johns added an individual victory in the 50-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 22.31.
Dylan Miller took third place (23.32), while
Josh Bleisch finished fourth (23.92). Childress added a win in the 100 backstroke with a time of 54.86.
Josh McCabe picked up third place (56.96), with Banks chipping in the team scoring with a fourth-place finish (57.67).
Joel Paquin scored a win in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:35.75. Wabash swept the distance events by easily controlling the 500 free. Paquin earned his second individual victory of the night by touching the wall in 4:56.95. Adams captured second place with a time of 5:00.08.
Arturo Granados finished third (5:00.22).
Steve Batchelder won the 200 freestyle with a top time of 1:50.63. Childress finished third (1:54.64), while Granados added a point for the Little Giants with his fifth-place finish (2:20.71).
Aaron Troyer won the 100 butterfly (54.41), with
Clayton Highum right behind in second place (56.23). Batchelder finished third (57.18).
Chris McGue finished first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.85). Miller captured fourth place (51.99), followed by
Ben Briggs in fifth place (54.93).
Wabash closed the meet with a victory by Banks, Johns, Troyer, and McGue in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The quartet posted a winning time of 1:28.89.
Jack Belford took second place in he 400-yard individual medley (4:16.74), followed by
Adam Barnes in third place (4:31.45). Belford also finished second in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.61), while Barnes grabbed fourth place (1:08.11).
The meet was the final dual competition of the season for the Little Giants. Wabash will compete at the annual North Coast Athletic Conference Championships in Granville, Ohio February 13-15.
