Box Score Wabash struggled at both ends of the floor Saturday afternoon in a 92-57 loss at Denison University, snapping a three-game winning streak for the Little Giants.
The Big Red (12-11, 8-8 NCAC) scored their highest number of points for the season while shooting 55 percent (35-of-64) from the field for the afternoon. Wabash shot 34 percent (21-of-62). The 92 points scored by Denison is the most surrendered in a non-overtime game this year.
The Little Giants were held scoreless over the first four minutes of the contest, falling behind 9-0 before
Pete Nicksic broke through with a layup . Denison extended its lead to 21 points over teh next four minutes, never letting the Little Giants get any closer than 19 points for the remainder of the half.
Kyle Aiton opened the second period with a pair of free throws to make it a 48-30 ballgame, but another run for Denison pushed the advantage to 27 points. Wabash would get no closer than 20 points the rest of the way, falling to 8-14 for the season and 7-9 in North Coast Athletic Conference action.
The loss, coupled with a Kenyon victory at Denison Saturday afternoon, dropped Wabash to seventh in the NCAC standings. The Little Giants travel to Greencastle to take on DePauw Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Andy Walsh led Wabash in scoring against Denison with 15 points, hitting 5-of-11 shots overall. All of his points came from three-point range on eight attempts. Denison was paced by the 22-point effort of Darius White. Alex Longi scored 16, while Briggs King and Robby Weingart each added 10.
