Wabash Takes The Top Spot at the DePauw Track and Field Invite

Wabash scored 119 points to win the team title at Saturday's DePauw Indoor Track and Field Invitational in Greencastle, Indiana.
 
The Little Giants finished ahead of Rose-Hulman in second place with 115 points. The host Tigers took third place out of 14 teams with a score of 97 points.
 
RaShawn Jones, Satchel Burton, and Josh Wiggins crossed the finish line 1-2-3 in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles. Jones won the race with a time of 8.55 after qualifying for the finals with a time of 8.50 in the preliminary race. Burton placed second by finishing in 8.73 in the finals. He earned a spot in the championship race by finishing his prelim heat in 8.71. Wiggins posted identical times of 8.81 in the prelims and finals to place third.
 
Luke Doughty and Colin Rinne captured first and second, respectively, in the 3,000-meter run. Doughty won the race by finishing in 8:56.63 for his best time in the event. Rinne finished in 8:57.57 to take second.
 
Parker Redelman raced to the top spot in the 400-meter dash, winning the race with a time of 51.24.
 
The quartet of Christopher Barker, Wiggins, Redelman, and Austin Ellingwood finished in first place in the 4x200-meter relay, combining for a time of 1:31.75.
 
Isaac Avant captured third place in the 60-meter dash finals, finishing in 7.16 after qualifying with a time of 7.26 in the preliminaries.
 
PJ Schafer took third place in the high jump. The senior cleared a height of 1.88 meters (6 feet, 2 inches). He added a fifth-place finish in the triple jump, posting a top distance of 12.08 meters (39 feet, 7.75 inches). Jared Strehl placed seventh overall in the triple jump (11.63 meters; 38 feet, 2 inches), with PJ Mays finishing eighth (11.58 meters; 38 feet).
 
Brady Gossett finished fourth in the 200-meter dash by crossing the line in 23.25. Wiggins placed fifth with his best time of the season at 23.30. Nick Morin added a sixth-place finish in the 600-meter run by completing the race in 1:29.97 for his best career time.
 
Corbin Kaiser scored a fourth-place finish in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2;45.81. Jonah Woods ran to fourth place in the 5,000-meter run, posting a time of 15:44.31.
 
Angus Edmundson scored a fifth-place finish in the long jump with a top mark of 5.89 meters (19 feet, 4 inches). Gaven Hill placed sixth in the shot put with a toss of 13.31 meters (43 feet, 8 inches). Brandon Peck finished eighth overall in the shot put with a mark of 12.60 meters (41 feet, 4.25 inches).
 
The Little Giants will travel to the Chicago-land area on Friday to compete in the F. Lee Slick Invitational at North Central College.
