Wabash College sophomore RaShawn Jones is poised to compete at the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championship Meet after turning in a personal best time Thursday at the Great Lakes Qualifying Meet held at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Jones finished second in the finals of the 110-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 14.49 for the quickest time in his collegiate career. His time ranks 13th among NCAA DIII men's competitors this season. The top-20 individual times will qualify for the 2018 championships to take place May 24-26 at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Jones placed second behind Mount Union's Mason Plant, who won the event with a time of 14.26 for the fourth-quickest time of the year. Darren Petty turned in the 27th-fastest time of the year to finish third overall at 14.79.

Jones added a third-place finish at the qualifying meet at OWU in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.68. He joined Austin Ellingwood, Tyler Ramsey, and Parker Redelman to win the 4x400-meter relay with a season-best time of 3:18.27.

Ellingwood completed his collegiate track and field career by running his fastest career time in the 400-meter dash. The recent Wabash graduate finished the race in second place with a time of 48.45.

Fellow seniors and recent graduates Hayden Baehl and Colin Rinne competed for the final time Thursday at the Gregory Invitational at North Central College. Baehl finished 16th in the 1500-meter run by posting a time of 4:06.96. Rinne completed the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:26.81 for a 14th-place finish.

The final NCAA qualifying list will be posted Saturday, May 19 at 9 a.m. on the championship web site at ncaa.com.
