Jones Races to All-America Honors at the 2018 NCAA DIII Championships

Wabash College sophomore RaShawn Jones finished in fifth place in the finals of the men's 110-meter hurdles Saturday to earn All-America honors at the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships held in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Jones saved his best effort for his final race of the year, crossing the line in a career-best time of 14.30. He finished 8/100th of a second off the winning time of 14.22 turned in by Mason Plant of Mount Union. Jones earned a place in the finals with a qualifying time of 14.74 in Friday's preliminary heats, sixth-fastest among the nine competitors that earned a place in the finals. His previous career-best time came with a 14.49 effort in the Great Lakes Final Qualifying Meet on May 17 to earn one of the 20 places at the national championship meet.

Jones was competing at the championship meet for the first time in his career. He is the first Wabash runner to earn All-America honors in the outdoor hurdles since Emmanuel Aouad placed seventh in the 110-meter event at the 2010 NCAA Championship meet.
