Wabash junior hurdler
RaShawn Jones blistered the track at the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodon Indoor Track and Field Opener held Saturday afternoon. Jones won the 60-meter hurdles while posting the second-fastest time in Division III. His effort helped Wabash finish second out of six teams in the final standings.

Jones earned a place in the finals by running a time of 8.09 in the prelims, the second-quickest time of the season and of the weekend by a DIII runner trailing only the time of 8.01 produced by Mount Union's Mason Plant in Friday evening competition. Josh Wiggins placed third in the finals by crossing the finish line in 8.77 after qualifying with a time of 8.76 in the prelims.

Isaiah Campbell won the shot put with a top mark of 13.58 meters (44 feet, 6.75 inches).
Donnie Mader added a third-place finish with a toss of 13.16 meters (43 feet, 2.25 inches). Mader also placed second in the weight throw with a top effort of 14.34 meters (47 feet. 0.75 inches) for his best mark of the season.
Daniel Howe finished third in the weight throw with a distance of 13.62 meters (44 feet, 8.25 inches).

Jose Franco scored a pair of top-four finishes. He placed third in the 200-meter dash, finishing the race in 22.98 for the Little Giants' top time of the season in that event. He scored a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.43.
Andrew Young finished second overall in the 400 dash by posting a time of 52.35.

Keith Abramson placed third with a season-best time of 2:00.05 in the 800-meter run.
Lucas Bender cleared 4.11 meters (13 feet, 5.75 inches) to place third in the pole vault.
Preston Whaley added a second-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 13.20 meters (43 feet, 3.75 inches).

Wabash scored a total of 31.5 points to finish second behind Detroit Mercy with 40 points.

Whaley and a handful of teammates also competed at the Rose-Hulman Friday Night Invitational in Terre Haute. Whaley turned in a second-place performance in the long jump with a season-best leap of 6.53 meters (21 feet, 5.25 inches).
Ahmaud Hill placed fifth in the triple jump with a top effort of 12.42 meters (40 feet, 9 inches).
Trashan Clemons scored an eighth-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 11.93 meters (39 feet, 1.75 inches). The trio scored a total of 13 points for an eighth-place finish in the team standings at the meet.
