Wabash Finishes Second at Engineer Track and Field Invitational

Wabash competed at the Rose-Hulman Engineer Invitational Friday evening in Terre Haute, Indiana, scoring 153 total points to finish second out of seven teams overall.
 
The Little Giants captured the top-three spots in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles. RaShawn Jones won the finals race with a time of 8.13. Leo Warbington finished in second place by crossing the line in 8.69. Josh Wiggins placed third in the finals with a time of 8.74.
 
Wiggins, Leon Ivy, Jose Franco, and Brady Gossett combined to win the 4x200-meter relay by posting a time of 1:31.70. The quartet of Andrew Young, Tyler Ramsey, Franco, and Keith Abramson added another relay victory in the 4x400 by finishing in 3:26.24.
 
Franco earned an individual victory in the 400-meter dash with a top time of 51.75. Fellow first-year Preston Whaley captured second place by finishing in 51.86. Tyler Ramsey added a fourth-place finish with a time of 52.65.
 
Abramson scored a second-place finish in the 800-meter run, crossing the finish line in 1:58.87. Joe Deiser finished fifth overall with a time of 2:01.80.
 
Wabash placed three runners in the finals of the 60-meter dash. Ivy finished third overall with a time of 7.17, crossing the line just ahead of teammate Isaac Avant who finished fourth at 7.20. Brady Gossett added a fifth-place finish with a time of 7.21.
 
Gossett scored a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash by posting a time of 23.44. Wiggins turned in a time of 23.34 to place third overall in the 200.
 
Ethan Pine finished third in the mile run with a time of 4:26.00 to finish ahead of Hunter Wakefield in fourth place at 4:26.91. Keegan Kirkwood placed fifth in the 3,000-meter run by finishing in 9:23.95. Drew Bluethmann finished sixth with a time of 9:31.07. Henry Egan placed fifth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:11.90.
 
Isaiah Campbell produced a top throw of 13.91 meters (45 feet, 7.75 inches) to earn third place in the shot put. Lucas Bender placed fourth in the pole vault by clearing 4.27 meters (14 feet).
 
Rose-Hulman won the meet with a score of 169.5 points. Wabash placed second with a score of 153 with Millikin finishing in third place (99.5 points).
 
The Little Giants will split the team next Saturday to compete at both the Fred Wilt Invitational at Purdue University and at the Olivet Nazarene University Invitational.
