Wabash Opens NCAC Championship With Fifth-Place Finish

Wabash opened the 2019 North Coast Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships Wednesday night with a fifth-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay.
 
The foursome of Kyle Louks, Nick Young, Justin Dusza, and Justin Wallar combined for a season-best time of 6:53.55. The Little Giants' previous best effort this season was 7:01.94. The fifth-place effort scored 56 points for Wabash overall. Kenyon won the event to earn 70 points. Denison sits in second place with 62 points. The College of Wooster scored 60 points with a third-place finish. DePauw placed fourth to score 58 points. Ohio Wesleyan (54 points), Allegheny (52), Wittenberg (50), Oberlin (48), and Hiram (44) completed the team scores on the first day of competition.
 
The four-day meet at the Trumball Aquatic Center at Denison University continues Thursday with the preliminary round starting at 9:30 a.m. followed by the finals at 6 p.m. Thursday schedule calls for competition in the 200 freestyle relay, 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle, and the 400 medley relay in addition to men's one-meter diving.
