Wabash competed in a pair of track and field meets over the weekend. The Little Giants scored three victories on the way to a sixth-place finish at the Eastern Illinois Friday Night Special. Wabash placed second out of 13 teams Saturday at the DePauw Indoor Classic.

Wabash scored one relay win and put together 20 top-eight finishes at DePauw on Saturday. The Little Giants' distance medley relay team of
Keith Abramson,
Hunter Wakefield,
Ethan Pine, and
Jose Franco combined to win the event with a time of 10:53.63.

Isaiah Campbell produced a personal-best toss of 14.79 meters (48 feet, 6.25 inches) to finish second overall in the shot put.
Donnie Mader finished eighth overall with a mark of 13.18 meters (43 feet, 3 inches). Mader came back to place second in the weight throw by posting a season-best mark of 15.52 meters (50 feet, 11 inches).

Joe Deiser finished third in the 800-meter run by turning in a time of 2:00.76.
PJ Mays cleared a height of 1.73 meters (5 feet, 8 inches) to finish third in the high jump.
Kamron Ferguson cleared the same height on a later attempt to earn a fifth-place finish.
Hunter Baehl left the competition after clearing 1.68 meters (5 feet, 6 inches) for a sixth-place effort. Ferguson also scored a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 12.07 meters (39 feet, 7.25 inches). Mays picked up sixth place by jumping 11.71 meters (38 feet, 5 inches).

Leon Ivy placed fourth in the 200-meter dash finals, posting a time of 23.48. Ivy added a fifth-place finish in the long jump with a top mark of 5.93 meters (19 feet, 5.5 inches).
Jared Strehl finished third in the long jump with his best leap of 6.10 meters (20 feet, 0.25 inches).

Reed Sauter and
Andrew Young produced top-six finishes in the 400-meter dash. Sauter placed fifth with a time of 52.58 with Young taking sixth place at 53.06.
Matt Bailey took fifth place in the 5,000-meter run by finishing in a season-best time of 16:09.23.
Henry Egan finished three second back in sixth place at 16:12.81.
Drew Lukens completed the 5,000 meters in 16:20.65 to finish eighth overall.

Leo Warbington crossed the finish line in 8.93 in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles to score a fifth-place finish.
Ballard Suiter took sixth place in the pole vault with a top effort of 3.83 meters (12 feet, 6.75 inches).
Ahmaud Hill placed eighth overall by clearing 3.38 meters (11 feet, 1 inch).

Abramson raced to first place in the 800-meter run at Eastern Illinois Friday night, finishing with a career-best time of 1:58.43. Pine also scored a first-place finish, winning the mile run in his best-ever time at 4:21.97. Deiser finished in 4:30.30 to place fifth overall.

The Little Giants also won the 4x400-meter relay at Eastern Illinois.

Preston Whaley produced a top distance of 13.83 meters (45 feet, 4.5 inches) to finish second overall in the triple jump.
Gianni Minor earned a fifth-place finish in the long jump Friday night with a leap of 6.34 meters (20 feet, 9.75 inches).
Max Bigler placed sixth in the high jump by clearing 1.93 meters (6 feet, 4 inches).
Lucas Bender picked up an eighth-place finish in the pole vault with a top mark of 3.95 meters (12 feet, 11.5 inches). Â

Wabash will compete next Saturday at the Fred Wilt Invitational at Anderson University. The chase for the 2019 North Coast Athletic Conference title also begins next Saturday with the NCAC Multi-Event Championships to be held at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.
